Resident Evil 4 Remake, Horizon and more are coming to PlayStation VR2

Resident Evil 4 Remake, Horizon and more are coming to PlayStation VR2

Sony’s latest State of Play showcase gave a glimpse of which games will support the launch of the PlayStation VR2 (PSVR2) headset. Neither a price or a release date for the headset has yet been shared, but at least we know what kind of games we can expect. For what it’s worth, Sony has committed to launching the headset with 20 major games. We’ve covered the main highlights below, including the trailers.

RESIDENT EVIL VILLAGE IS GETTING VR SUPPORT

Capcom is releasing a patch for Resident Evil 8 that enables VR support on PSVR2 headsets. Similar to Resident Evil 7, Sony’s headset features a VR experience for Capcom’s first-person horror adventure. Capcom didn’t share an exact release date for the VR content, but it seems like a good time. We saw the main character, Ethan, being able to throw weapons between his hands like a gunslinger, which is exactly what I want to do when I play first-person VR games.

RESIDENT EVIL 4 REMAKE IS ALSO COMING TO PlayStation VR2

Capcom opened this State of Play showcase with the first images from the Resident Evil 4 remake. While the main game appears to be a third-person adventure (like the original), Sony announced that content for the PlayStation VR2 is in development. However, it is unclear whether this will turn the game into a first-person shooter like the VR adaptation introduced in Meta Quest 2 in 2021. If that’s the case, at least it’s probably going to be a lot. Higher resolution, more immersive experience.

NO MAN’S SKY IS JOINING THE LINEUP PSVR2 TRAILER

Games will bring virtual reality to No Man’s Sky, the frequently updated space exploration game. There’s already a VR version for PSVR and PC owners to enjoy, and it’s likely to be a port of an already existing system. I’m not sure about that though just looking at what limited footage was shown.

THERE’S A WALKING DEAD GAME SAINTS AND SINNERS CH2

No VR headset lineup can be complete without some sort of zombie-filled game. The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners: Vengeance is coming to PlayStation VR2 in 2022. If you’re someone who prefers open-world shooters with some light inventory management and scrounging for supplies, this might be worth checking out.

HORIZON CALL OF THE MOUNTAIN IN PSVR2 LOOK GOOD

Guerrilla Games showed off some combat and traversal gameplay for its upcoming PSVR2 exclusive, Horizon Call of the Mountains. Like console games, there seems to be a lot of climbing going on and the visuals look stunning. What attracts me the most is the satisfying-looking bow combat, and I’m curious how the game handles the VR controls in the midst of the action against those mechanized creatures.
