The Dark and Harrowing teaser trailer includes some dialogue with Williams’ song, focusing heavily on apocalyptic survivors Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey.

Based on the award-winning video game from Naughty Dog, The Last of Us is set 20 years after modern civilization was destroyed by a deadly virus. Joel (Pascal), a tough survivor, is hired by a 14-year-old girl, Ellie (Ramsey), to bring the drug-hunting organization Fireflies out of oppressive quarantine. What starts out as a small job soon turns into a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as the two are forced to return to the United States.
In addition to Pascal and Ramsey, The Last of Us stars Anna Torv as Tess, Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Nico Parker as Sarah, Storm Reid as Riley, Nick Offerman as Bill, Lamar Johnson as Henry, Merle Dandridge as Marlene, Jeffrey Pierce as Perry, Murray Bartlett as Frank, Elaine Miles as Florence, Graham Greene as Marlon, Keivonn Woodard as Sam, and Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker.
The adaptation was written and executive by Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin. The series is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and executive produced by Evan Wells, Carolyn Strauss, Carter Swann, Rose Lamm and Asad Kiezelbash. Even though we still don’t know the release date, ‘2023’ still our only hint.
Although there’s no specific release date yet, The Last of Us will premiere on HBO and HBO Max in early 2023.
