The Oshi no Ko (My Idol’s Child) manga is an anime adaptation of the Oshi no Ko (My Idol’s Child) manga.
The first visual teaser has been revealed but aside from that, there’s not much to go on. No release date for Oshi no Ko has been revealed, not even a hint, so we will have to wait for future updates. The English title is also unknown (the manga roughly translates to “My Idol’s Child, My Star“).
While we wait for additional information, take a look at the teaser visual below and try to guess what the plot is about (a bit of it will be revealed below, so use your imagination)!
Oshi no Ko Anime: What We Know So Far
Fortunately, not everything about the Oshi no Ko anime is behind the sacred veil of secrecy. It has been revealed that the anime series is being produced by Doga Kobo ( My Senpai Is Annoying ), directed by Daisuke Hiramaki and Chao Nekotomi (Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie), with Jin Tanaka in charge of the script and Kanna Hirayama (Rent -A -Girlfriend) is the character designer.
Oshi no Ko Anime Key Visual
As mentioned above, the Oshi no Ko manga is illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari and written by Aka Akasaka.
The series started on April 23, 2020 and is still ongoing (the last volume 7 will be released on June 17). The manga is published under the Young Jump Comics imprint and is serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump.
Plot-wise, it offers an innovative (and rather funny) take on the entertainment industry, beginning with an idol wannabe (Ai Hoshino) with a perfectly fake smile who hopes to build a flourishing career based on lies.
She decides to give birth to her twins in secret, unaware that the doctor handling her pregnancy (Gorō) is her admirer. Just before Ai gives birth, Gorō dies and is quickly reincarnated as one of her children, with her memories intact.
The manga won first place at the 7th Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taishō (Next Manga Awards) in 2021 and another first place at the 46th annual Kodansha Manga Awards in the Best Overall Manga category (2022).
In February 2021, it was revealed in the 11th issue of Weekly Young Jump magazine that Oshi no Ko would collaborate with Miki Yoshikawa’s A Couple of Cuckoos, but no follow-ups have been provided since then.
The Oshi no Ko manga has more than 3 million copies in circulation. The manga series is published digitally in English on the MangaPlus platform.
