Makoto Shinkai, as previously reported, will soon be releasing his latest film, Suzume no Tojimari (Suzume’s Door-Locking). The film is expected to be released in Japan on November 11, 2022, and will also be adapted as a novel to be released in Japan on August 24, 2022.
It has now been announced that actress Nanoka Hara has been cast to voice the lead character Suzume Iwato. This is Nanoka Hara’s first time acting as a voice actor for an anime. Nanoka Hara, who has been in love with Makoto Shinkai’s films since middle school, was happy to win the casting, which was attended by about 1700 participants.
In a previous article, Makoto Shinkai commented on his film that “For the past 2 years, I feel like travelling with Suzume to a faraway place. The staff has worked together to ensure that he gets to where he needs to be and that his journey is enjoyed by viewers. I hope you are looking forward to the opening.”
Makoto Shinkai himself is one of the anime directors from Japan who is quite famous in various countries. The previous film, entitled Weathering With You, has also been screened in India.
