An animated adaptation of the manga created by independent artist Meganei placed its two episodes among the most popular in the genre. What is this about?
It’s not at all easy for independent manga artists, especially when it comes to marketing their works. Getting an anime adaptation, however brief, is a huge accomplishment that puts your work at a great risk. The same goes for Magni’s “Shishunki no Obenkyu” series, which is popular in both print and broadcast media.
“Shishunki no Obenkyu” is about an ordinary young girl named Kyosuke. Like anyone of her age, she has pubertal curiosities and a keen interest in learning about human anatomy. After a series of events, Kyosuke makes a bet with his friend Kobayashi to help him with his studies.
The “Shishunki no Obenkyu” manga has six chapters, and shows how the protagonist’s years pass. Kasuga and Kobayashi became a couple and then for the first time became accustomed to studying different aspects of life together, betting on who would get the best grades on the exam.
Aside from the standard relaxing anime plot about everyday life, the main draw of “Shishunki no Obenkyu” is Kasuga’s well-crafted design. It is very engaging for the audience, and fits in perfectly with the story.
Shishunki no Obenkyou
“Shishunki no Obenkyu” Episode 1 premiered on December 17, 2021, and was a hit among anime with the aichi trend. In fact, the most obvious indication of its popularity is that it ranks fifth in Japanese portal Getchu’s top 10 sales for the month of May, despite the fact that it was launched half a year ago.
Naturally, as with all the buzz, “Shishunki no Obenkyu” was the Chapter 2 anime that debuted in May. Seeking to continue this trend, the series has already confirmed that a third episode is in production.
