How many Pokemon are there? All Pokémon types & generations (2022)

How many Pokémon are there? All Pokémon types & generations (2022): There are many creatures in the world of Pokémon. They come in all types, sizes, and shapes, from starters to Legendaries. There are countless “mons” in every area the franchise has to find and catch, but if you’re wondering how many Pokémon there are, we’ve got you covered.

With so many different creatures and types in the decades since the franchise’s debut in 1996, it’s hard to keep track of the number of Pokémon. This cannot be easy.

Each new generation adds more than 100 of them to the National Pokedex, so we’ll keep updating this page as new games are released, but for now, let’s know

Currently, there are 905 Pokémon registered in the National Pokédex.

That number will be increased by new Pokémon introduced in Scarlet and Violet, such as Quaxly, Fuecoco, and Sprigatito. Still, it won’t count until the Gen 9 game officially launches in November.

Our numbers don’t include regional versions like the Galarian Rapidash and the Alolan Vulpix. This is because Pokedex considered them as the same number.

It is also worth pointing out that these 905 Pokémon species span multiple games and generations. There is about 1000 mons total, but you won’t find many mons in one game.

Legendary Pokémon

There are currently 60 legendary Pokémon in the game. This significantly increased from the five that appeared in the original game. The newest addition to this lineup is Enamorus from Legends Arceus.

This number includes pre-evolutions like Cosmog and Cosmoem but does not include Galarian versions of Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres. Despite having two “styles”, Urshifu is counted as a legend.

Of course, that number will increase once Scarlett and Violet are released, and Miraidon and Koraidon have been officially added to the Pokedex.
