A new trailer for the third OAD of Mahoutsukai no Yome: Nishi no Shounen to Seiran no Kishi reveals more about its story.
Through the official website of Mahou Tsukai no Yome (The Ancient Magus’ Brid), the team in charge of the anime published a trailer for the third and last OAD of the series. In Japanese it is called Mahou Tsukai no Yome: Nishi no Shounen to Seiran no Kishi. In English it is known as The Ancient Magus’ Bride – The Boy from the West and the Knight of the Blue Storm. This advance allows us to appreciate what will happen in this new episode. But there is a peculiar situation.
The first OAD came out with the sixteenth volume of the manga in September 2021 in Japan and arrived on Crunchyroll in December of the same year. The second came out with the seventeenth on March 10… and there was no promotion about it. I mean, not even a trailer or anything came out. In fact, this video on demand service has not revealed when it will be available in its catalog, although it is planned for release.
In its premiere report for the spring 2022 anime season it is listed but since then there is no mention. When will the third OAD of Mahou Tsukai no Yome come out? It will be on September 9 and will accompany the publication of the eighteenth volume of the manga. Hopefully soon there will be an update regarding the second and of course this third installment. This delay is a bit disturbing.
More than anything the lack of information is the problem. As for what can be seen in the new trailer, it is clear that the story has moved on. Gabriel, the boy who had an encounter with someone who seemed to be the same age as him, ended up dragged into the Wild Hunt, the Wild Hunt. This is a hunting party made up of ghosts or supernatural beings that are led by an entity of much higher rank and power.
While those who are part of the cavalcade have no problem, it is the humans who are in danger in a Wild Hunt. One of their destinies is to join it and end up far away from the place where they live or die. Thus they will be part of the hunting herd. That is the reason why in the preview of the third OAD of Mahou Tsukai no Yome, Chise and Elias can be seen trying to rescue the boy who is trapped in it.
As previously revealed, this set of OADs is the first part of a new animated project in the series. We will have to stay tuned as soon as new information appears.
